Should I just get a wheel (? which one from the list?) with a DH-3N30?

additional questions are some of these are capable of disk brakes. Does anyone update their saxonette to disk brakes when switching the front forks or?

And no i never did upgrade mine front wheel to a disk brake. Personal i think its not very safe to do so cos when ye front wheel locs up ye defo wil fal on ye face. En ye can look arround for ye front teeth where they went

hub suggestions? there are several shimano and rim combinations to choose from...

I ride in mountains so brakes are very important. Getting rid of heat is my concern. My bike has cantilevers in the front, similar to your v-brakes and my front rim would heat up. I changed to a front disk brake and it got so hot it turned blue and was useless. After this I went back to the cantilevers with "Cool Stop" pads and it works well.

I just picked up a huge Sturmey Archer hub with a drum brake and a dyno for lights. My plan is to run dual front brakes for loaded touring. Having a light full time is an added bonus. The obvious downside is that the S/A hub is really large, heavy and the dyno isn't very efficient so it has some drag. The idea is like what loaded tandems use. On long descents they set up a drag brake so their service brakes are cool and ready.

I would recommend changing your brake pads to the new style if they fit.

Update, the brake pads we use are made by a small local company here in Portland Oregon, Koolstop, don't know if you can get them in your area. The ones you want are the ugly salmon colored ones, a softer compound for the rain. Pads are cheap, wheels and rims are expensive.

http://www.reelight.com very interesting. since the power requirements of a system designed for lighting LED's are low, the designer(s) have an all-in-one daylight running kit, also for night ? which uses magnets fixed to the spokes (6 rare earth NeoDym) and a pick-up coil mounted on either the front or back forks. Solves the SA weight issue! And the generator resistance issues.

I think I'm looking for a hub generator otherwise, the DH-3N30. Update, the DH-3N80, better bearings and seals.

choosing from this list... thinking the third one... 50EUR... The Rigida might be a stronger rim design? I like you am concerned about stopping power, dual brakes sound like a good idea. The V brakes seem to be working well.
